1. What Does the RhythmOne Group Do?
The RhythmOne group provides advertising technology products and services. We are headquartered in the U.S. but have group companies all around the world. Our group consists of the following businesses:
- RhythmOne – we provide programmatic advertising and analytics services to publishers and advertisers including by way of in-game advertising.
- YuMe by RhythmOne – we provide video advertising services in relation to websites, mobile applications and connected TVs.
- Perk – we provide a platform through which users can earn redeemable gift points by watching advertising and video content.
Perk’s services differ to those of RhythmOne and YuMe. As such, in order to assist with transparency and your understanding of this Notice, certain disclosures below are described as “Perk-specific”.
For more information regarding each business, please visit the website links set out above.
2. What is Targeted Advertising?
Certain of our products and services involve the provision of targeted advertising. This involves providing tailored advertising to online users based on their interests and behaviours. Crucially, our targeted advertising is conducted at an “audience” or a “segment” level (e.g. males in Chicago aged 25-34 who like cars) and so does not directly identify individuals.
We do not intentionally collect information that identifies you (such as your name, address, phone number, or email address) as part of our targeted advertising activities, and we prohibit our partners from sharing this information with us. We act on behalf of our customers in providing any targeted advertising products and services.
3. Codes of Conduct, Memberships and Certifications
We are a member of the Digital Advertising Alliance (“DAA”), the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (“DAAC”), the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (“EDAA”), the Internet Advertising Bureau (“IAB”), and Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”) and adhere to each organization’s principles (the NAI Codes of Conduct, the DAA Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising, the Canadian Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioural Advertising, the EDAA Principles, and IAB Europe’s Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising respectively).
To learn more about interest-based or online behavioral advertising, and other advertising companies’ privacy policies and opt-out, please visit the DAA Website at http://www.aboutads.info.

Such survey questions are a way for advertisers to obtain information directly from users about their interests. Users might be asked, for instance, “Which of the following comedy programs do you watch?” with a drop-down menu of TV shows, or “How frequently do you travel for business?” with a drop-down menu of different options. As an example, we might do this to get a sense of how many people aged 18-21 use the share feature, but not who those people actually are.
